WHEN the sun goes down during the inner west’s darkest hours, The Black Rat searches the region’s seething underbelly to expose busted street lights.

Since going into hiding last September, the Black Rat resurfaced on Saturday at Ashfield to announce his battle against broken street, park and footpath lights had started.

Set to appear at Ashfield Council’s comic convention at the library, Black Rat urged citizens across the inner west to divulge the location of faulty lighting to help councils fix them once and for all.

Black Rat’s plea for information comes a year after his successful campaign to fix zebra crossings, which received wide community support.

With 60 faulty street lights reported to him in 2013, Black Rat said he hoped to better that figure this year.

“I’m hoping we can better that number in 2014,” he said.

“If you have a broken street light near your home report it to me via email or Facebook and I’ll make sure it gets fixed.”
